In which cases do you have to fix the spine?
Fixations of the spine (spondylodesis) should be taken into consideration only in cases, when they are absolutely necessary from a clinical and radiological point of view, e.g. when a primary or secondary spondylolisthesis has occurred. This can happen, when intervertebral discs are worn out or innate or later instabilities of the spine occur. Fixations of the spine are also necessary in severe case of herniated discs, which occur, however, rather seldom. Surgery is carried out as in-patient treatment. A physiotherapy is necessary in all cases.
