Spine-fractures/osteoporosis

Spine-fractures happen as a consequence of accidents or sport injuries and, among older people, often spontaneously. In many cases, however, they are caused by osteoporosis. Previously damaged vertebrae are especially endangered. As far as instable fractures of the spine are concerned, there is the danger that the spinal cord is damaged, which in the worst case can lead to paralysis. The usual therapy against pain caused by osteoporosis, is to mend and stabilize fractures by minimally invasive techniques like vertebroplasty and a corresponding medical treatment to fight the overall cause of osteoporosis.
